When Children Shut Down
Hi there!
You can call me “Celia” in Engilsh. Silje is my original name, in Norwegian.
I am passionate about helping parents and teachers feel more confident in supporting the children they are responsible for. This is partly based on my own experience of not having a safe spac to express my own thoughts and feelings. But it wasn’t because my parents didn’t care. My family had to deal with turbulent circumstances of my mum’s pro-longed cancer disease and ill health that would have been difficult for most people to cope with. This has led to my commitment to helping others.
Young Intro helps adults promote communication on how to make sure children feel seen, acknowledged, and understood. That's exactly why we developed the Celia Connection Method - a practical framework that helps parents and teachers confidently facilitate meaningful conversations with children.
Now I invite parents to a discovery session about how "The Celia Connection Method" contributes to fostering emotional safety, trust and connection, and meaningful communication. Communication is not only about asking questions or conversing. It is also about creating safe spaces, and providing opportunities to express thoughts, feelings, and needs. Through pilot projects both in Norway and Uganda we have received positive feedback that our method of creating space for conversations, inclusive play, and learning for children fosters both a sense of security and safety, as well as fun, meaningful activities.
I am preparing a one-day course starting in August - “When Children Shut Down: Why Some Children Open Up While Others Withdraw”.
Send me an email to silje@youngintro.no if you’d like to schedule a meeting.
